EPIPHANY YOUTH MINISTRY
Our Epiphany Youth Group has created a book called "We Are A NEW CREATION!"
This Lenten devotional book has been crafted in love by and for Epiphany Lutheran Church and the wider church with help from our adult leaders, with contributions from 42 individuals. Every child in 5th through 12th grade was mailed a copy for themselves as well as a "family copy" to share. They are also available for pick up by anyone who is interested in the Commons or here:
Each day you will find a scripture chosen by a member of our community and their reflection on its meaning, as well as a question for pondering, journaling or discussion, and a prayer.
Here are some suggests on how you could use this journal:
+ For family reading and discussion Keep the book on the dinner table and over supper (or breakfast if you’re earlier risers!) read the scripture and reflection and think about and answer the question together. Use the prayer given or pray your own,
+ For personal journaling Keep the book by your bedside and reflect on the verses when you wake up or each night before going to sleep,
Join us for our “New Creation” 6-week Lenten Study 5-12th grade youth are invited to meet on Zoom for Bible study beginning on Sunday, February 21 and gathering each Sunday for six weeks, ending on Sunday, March 28. We will meet from 1-2pm and use these reflections as our guide. Look for an invitation and link coming soon in your email.
May this booklet be good company for you through these 40 days, as we give thanks to God for the promise that if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

Epiphany Youth Group is our ministry to and with 7th through 12th grade students. We meet about every other week after the second worship service for lunch, games, small groups, Bible study, service projects, activities, songs, and whatever activities and adventures to which the Spirit leads! We also participate in Virginia Synod retreats and summer service trips. Pastor Joseph and the Timothy Ministers (adult leaders) are called to serve the EYG community.
The central focus of youth ministry at Epiphany is to strengthen a relationship of faith in Christ Jesus by discovering and developing our Spirit-given gifts for use in God’s world. The methods of youth ministry are fellowship, Bible study, and service, as the Spirit sends us to live trusting that, "if anyone is in Christ, everything old has passed away - see, everything has become new! "
"Lil Youths" is our youth group for 5th and 6th graders!
We meet once a month for a meal and fellowship, and friends are always welcome to come along!
In March we attend the Virginia Synod's overnight event called "7th Day." Other outings may include bowling or a picnic trip to somewhere fun in Richmond.
Lil Youths is led by Alexandra Griffin, Ryan Root, Kim Yucha, and Pastor Joseph Bolick.
All youth events and gatherings are open to guests, friends, and parents.
The Lutheran Church offers those who have been baptized as young children the opportunity to affirm their baptism publicly during their high school years and take on a greater role within the life of faith in the congregation. This ministry is commonly called confirmation.
Confirmation classes for Grades 9 & 10 are held on every other Wednesday night during the school year. Rite of Confirmation occurs at the end of the 10th-grade year.
